Unfortunately, english translated pages on our Civic Net constitute only aproximately 4% of all available documents. Where possible, we have tried to make widely available the information that seemed more important (tourism, art, museums, phone numbers and addresses of different public entities etc.). If what you are looking for is not currently available in your language we suggest you try the italian engine as well, as there is a good chance for you to find a lot of easily retrievable information.

Which types of documents are indexed

The PO-Net search engine is able to index the following types of documents:

  • all HTML files;
  • all text files (with the extension .txt ) Icona file di testo
  • all files in PDF format (with the extension .pdf ) Icona file pdf
  • all files in RTF format (with the extension .rtf) Icona file rtf
  • all Word files (with the extension .doc)Icona file doc

How to begin the search

It is possible to conduct simple document searches inside the Civic Net of Prato by inserting, in the "Search for" box, one or more keywords, separated by a space. It's also possible to perform searches by specifying a prefix. For instance, in order to look for all the words beginning with "profession", you can type profession* in the "Search for:" box.

The "Matching" field allows you to conduct the search on documents that contain "At least one" or "All" the inserted words. In this last case you should take note that the words will be, indeed, all present, but not necessarily in the exact order that were inserted, nor one next to another.

If you choose "Brief" in the "Format" field, the results will only be listed by title (as hypertext) whilst if you choose "Detailed", the list of results will include, for every document that has been found:

  • the title (as hypertext);
  • the description of the document, if present; a brief excerpt of the document otherwise;
  • the complete URL (as hypertext);
  • the timestamp of the last update;
  • the size (in kilobytes).

NOTES: in the results page, documents which contain only text, PDF or RTF documents will appear quite different from Word documents; this is indeed a proprietary format, and unfortunately there's no open standard which completely allows its correct and full parsing.
